What is Plantusky?
Plantusky is a plant care tracker that runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to install and no account to create — just open the app and start adding your plants.
You can keep a detailed record of each plant: when you last watered it, what fertilizer you use, what soil mix it grows in, where the seeds came from, and how it has been growing over time. It works beautifully on both desktop and mobile.

🔒 Your Data Stays on Your Device
Plantusky has no backend server and no account system. All of your plant data — including photos, care logs, and settings — is saved directly in your browser, on your own device. Nothing is ever sent anywhere.
🛡️ 100% Private by Design
Nothing you enter is ever uploaded to a server or stored in the cloud. Your plants are yours alone. No sign-up, no tracking, no ads — ever.
Because everything is stored locally in your browser, clearing your browser's storage or site data will also erase your Plantusky data. We strongly recommend using the Export feature regularly to keep a safe backup copy of your data.
Using Plantusky on multiple devices? Export your data on one device, then open Plantusky on the other device and import the file. Everything transfers in seconds.
🚀 Getting Started
You're ready to go the moment you open the app. Here's how to add your first plant:
Tap "My Plants" in the sidebar
This is the home screen where all your plants live.
Press "+ New Plant"
A small form will appear. Give your plant a name and optionally set the planting date.
Press "Create"
Your plant is saved and its detail page opens right away.
Fill in the details at your own pace
Add a description, growing method, fertilizer, potting mix, temperature ranges, and more — whenever you're ready.
🪴 Managing Your Plants
The My Plants screen shows all your plants as cards. Each card displays the plant's photo (or a 🪴 placeholder if none has been added yet), along with small badges showing when it was last watered or fertilized.
Searching and Filtering
Use the search bar to find a plant by name. The dropdown lets you filter between Active plants, Finished plants, or All.
Plant Detail Page
Tap any plant card to open its full detail page. Here you can edit its information, log care events, view photos, and browse the activity history. The page has three tabs:
Marking a Plant as Finished
When a plant has completed its life cycle, tap the 🏁 Finish button. The plant moves to the "Finished" list and displays a banner on its page. You can always unmark it — nothing is deleted.
📱 QR Codes
Every plant has a unique QR code tied to its ID. You can display it, scan it, or print a full sheet — useful for labelling pots, shelves, or grow tents so you can pull up a plant's record instantly.
Show a Plant's QR Code
Open any plant's detail page and tap the 📱 QR button in the action row. A modal appears with the QR code and the plant name. Scan it with any QR reader to navigate directly to that plant.

Open the scanner
In My Plants, tap 📷 Scan QR in the toolbar. The app will request camera permission if it hasn't already.
Point at a plant QR code
Hold the camera over any QR code generated by Plantusky. The scanner detects it automatically — no button press needed.
Jump to the plant
The scanner closes and the matching plant's detail page opens immediately. If the code doesn't match any plant a message is shown and scanning continues.
Print a QR Code Sheet
In My Plants, tap 🖨️ QR Sheet to open a printable page. It shows the QR codes for all active (non-finished) plants, grouped by growing season, with the plant name printed below each code.
QR codes encode the plant's internal ID, not its name. Renaming a plant later won't break any labels you've already printed.
💧 Tracking Plant Care
At the top of every plant's detail page you'll find a row of quick-action buttons. These let you record common care events in one tap:
Each action adds a timestamped entry to the plant's Log tab and updates the "last watered" or "last fertilized" badge shown on its card in the plants list.
Days Since Last Care
When you log a Watering or Fertilizing event, the entry automatically shows how many days have passed since the last event of the same type — for example, "💧 Watering — 8 days after last watering" or "🧪 Fertilizing — 5 days after last fertilizing". If no previous event of that type exists, the app falls back to the last transplanting date, then the planting date. If none of those are available, no interval is appended.
Logging Weather
Tap 🌡️ Weather to automatically fetch the current temperature and humidity for your location and save it as a log entry. Make sure you've set your location in Settings first.
Custom Notes
Use Custom Note to write anything you want — observations, changes you made, concerns, or milestones. Every log entry can also be edited or deleted at any time.
Highlighting Log Entries
Press and hold any log entry for about half a second to toggle a highlight on it. Highlighted entries appear with a yellow background so they stand out at a glance. The highlight is saved automatically — it will still be there the next time you open the log. Press and hold again on a highlighted entry to remove it.
Changes to a plant's linked fertilizer, potting mix, grow method, or seed source are automatically recorded in the log too, so you always have a full history of what changed and when.
📷 Photos & Gallery
Every plant (and every item in your library) has its own photo gallery. Use it to document growth over time.
Open the Gallery tab
Go to a plant's detail page and tap Gallery.
Tap the camera zone
Tap the "📷 Tap to add a photo" area to pick an image from your device's camera roll or files.
Browse and manage your photos
Tap any thumbnail to view it full-screen. Each photo shows the date it was added. Tap ✕ on a thumbnail to delete it.
Storage tip: Photos are stored inside your browser's local storage. Adding many large images may eventually reach your browser's storage limit. Export your data regularly as a backup to avoid any loss.
📚 Your Library
Beyond individual plants, Plantusky helps you build a reusable library of the products and resources you use. Everything in the library can be linked to your plants.
Library items are reusable — create a fertilizer once and link it to as many plants as you like. On a plant's detail page, linked items appear as clickable links so you can jump straight to their full details.

Open Configuration from the sidebar to personalise the app.
📤 Backup & Restore
Because Plantusky stores everything locally in your browser — with no server involved — it's important to make regular backups. You can find the Export / Import option in the sidebar.
⬇️ Exporting your data
Tap "Export JSON" to download a backup file named plantusky-YYYY-MM-DD.json. It contains all your plants, fertilizers, potting mixes, seed sources, photos, and settings in one file.
Store it somewhere safe — a cloud storage folder, your computer, or even an email to yourself. This is your complete backup and can be used to restore everything.
Moving to a new device or browser? Export your data first, then open Plantusky on the new device and tap "Import JSON" to restore everything instantly.
Important: Importing a file will replace all current data on this device. A confirmation message will appear before anything changes. Export first if you need to keep what you currently have.
What's included in the export?
Everything — all your plants and their full activity logs, all photos, fertilizers, potting mix recipes, seed sources, and your app settings. Nothing is left out. The file is a standard format that you can also open in any text editor.
We recommend exporting a backup at least once a week, or any time you've made important updates to your plants.
